Joining the team

If you’re interested in joining the team, come to one of our interest meetings (documented below) or email us at info@area27.org.

Steps for Students Joining the Team:

This is our survey to populate our roster with information about parents and students. Fill out our general information survey here.

2. Complete our AREA 27/Foundry Paperwork

Students/Parents:

  1. Read the Foundry policies:

3. Complete the FIRST HQ and NC online registration

Students must first create a FIRST account and invite their parent/guardian. Then their parent/guardian must create their own FIRST account to sign their child’s youth consent & release form. Then the student can apply to be on the AREA 27 team from their account.

  3. Log in to your account for the first time. Read and accept the FIRST policies that appear when you first log in.
  4. Go to “My Profile” in the top right hand corner. Fill out the relevant information in the “My Information” section. Under “Employer” select “Full-Time Student.” Click “Save” at the bottom of the page.
  5. Go to the “Parent/Guardian – Youth” section on your dashboard. Sign the North Carolina Consent & Release Form if it appears. Click “Invite Parent/Guardian.” Fill out the relevant information and click “Send Invitation.” Ask your parents to check their email to continue with the process.

Date: 9/6/2019 (Friday)
Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm

Parking: Please park in any ungated ‘Chemistry’ parking spots available on Towerview Rd. or Circuit Dr.

Directions: Once you park, approach Gross Hall (starred below). Easiest way in is from the back where the big gated Chemistry parking lot is; this leads to the building loading dock. Finding-the-Foundry-AREA-27

The interest meeting will be hosted by current students of the team. Attendees will have the opportunity to see our last year’s robot in action, ask questions to the current students, and meet the mentors on the team.

Want to become a mentor?

We can always use more mentors to work with these amazing students. No matter your experience, you can make a difference. Many of our mentors came into working with the team with no prior robotics experience.

If interested, contact us at info@area27.org.
